What are you thankful for this holiday season?
November 26, 2021
Thanksgiving Break was too short and oh so sweet. My husband had tested positive for COVID the week before, and we ascertained the rest of the family would test positive as well. I had a few days where I had a pounding headache and was bedridden. Fortunately, my tests came back negative, and so did the kiddos. Unfortunately, I had to put in for a sub the week before Fall Break leaving my kiddos at school. They were finishing up essays; however, if you’re a teacher, you know that having a sub is more work than being on campus.
We stayed isolated from others but enjoyed quality family time since we were quarantining at home. By Thanksgiving Day, my husband felt better and enjoyed our family meal and time together. Although I appreciated our quality family time, I did have to rant to my husband on my strong opinions of the whitewashed Thanksgiving history, which I supposed is a post for another day. How are we already in November with Christmas right around the corner?
The last few years have been crazy with COVID, odd school years, and the craziness of the world, but I am thankful for my little family. ❤️
Regardless of what is going on and my views, in a world set in greed and never being satisfied, I think this time of the year is excellent for counting our blessings and recognizing all that we have to be thankful for, regardless of our situation. For me, I’m thankful for my family, my students, an awesome administration, and everyone back to being healthy in the Simonson household. What about you?
