Changing up my skincare routine

I have struggled most of my life to find a skincare routine that works for me. Find out what I have finally found that helps my skin!

First and most importantly, I am NOT a dermatologist or skin expert. I am just sharing the products I love, and what has worked personally for me and my skin.

So recently I have been taking more of an interest in my skin, especially since I am on bedrest and have noticed my face is just kind of dull. One of my biggest face struggles is acne. I always had a little bit of acne growing up, but after I had Tad my face kind of went crazy. After Catherine it got so bad I started having really painful cystic acne and decided to seek the advice of a dermatologist.

The dermatologist gave me prescription topical creams, which definitely helped with my acne, but would cause my skin to be terribly dry. I dreaded putting on makeup because my skin was so dry, it never looked quite right. And lets face it, excessive dry skin leads to wrinkles, and makes skin look dull. With all the extra time on my hands, I started researching face products that would not only help my acne, but would keep my skin glowing, plump, and looking young.

First thing is first, start with One Love Organics Vitamin B Enzyme Face Cleansing Oil. This cleansing oil is great for cleaning away makeup, dirt, and impurities, and doesn’t strip the skin of it’s natural oils. Perfect if you have dry skin, yet so gentle it can be used on all skin types. Plus, it smells like a pina colada. Yum!

Next, I use my CeraVe Foaming Face Wash. My dermatologist recommended I use CeraVe’s PM moisturizer since it is non-comedogenic and wouldn’t irritate my acne, and it kind of led me to my love of their other products. Developed my dermatologists, non-irritating, and super affordable. I pair this with my TAO cleansing facial brush to wash.

After I finish washing, and pat drying my face with a clean cloth, I spray on Bliss Rose Gold Rescue Toner Mist. Bliss is another non-comedogenic brand, so I know it isn’t going to clog my pores. This particular toner is gentle on skin, very hydrating (I can even spray this on during the day as I need it over my makeup), and it filled with antioxidants that are good for the skin. Plus, it is free of parabens, phthalates, SLS, and cruelty free. I also love that it is a spray.

After the Bliss Rose Gold Rescue Toner Mist has dried, if it is the morning, I will apply either CeraVe’s Vitamin C serum, or Bliss Vitamin C Serum. Vitamin C helps brighten skin, reduce the appearance of dark spots, firm skin, and improve skin appearance. Within my first few days of adding a Vitamin C Serum to my routine, I noticed visibly smoother and brighter skin. (CeraVe was my initial first pick because I had been using their products, however, as I have started using more Bliss products, I continue to fall more in love with their brand!) You can get both brands on either Amazon or Target, which is nice.

At night, after the Bliss Rose Gold Rescue Toner Mist has dried, I apply a hyaluronic acid serum to my face. This miracle bottle is super affordable and effective. Hyaluronic acid moisturizers, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, and improves skin texture. A key molecule to make sure your skin ages well is hyaluronic acid, and this pure hyaluronic acid serum is perfect for my skin.

After my serums have dried, I apply my CeraVe eye cream. This helps with dark circles and puffiness. I will say, I am looking into a new eye cream that also has caffeine which I think would improve appearance around the eyes even more, but for now, this is my go to. I use this morning and night after my serums have set and dried.

Once my eye cream is dried, I apply my moisturizer. In the Am, having a moisturizer with SPF is KEY for for good skin. If you are going outside, be sure you have a good SPF. My morning AM moisturizer is CeraVe AM moisturizer, and if I know I will be in the sun, I carry around EltaMD Face Sunscreen and reapply throughout the day as needed. If it is night time, I apply my CeraVe’s PM moisturizer.

Both AM, and PM, I let those moisturizers sit, and once they have dried, I apply my last step, which is my Radha Organic Rosehip Oil. A little of this goes a long way! I just put a few drops in my hand, rub on my hands, and pat onto my face and neck on top of my moisturizer. Rosehip oil is filled with antioxidants and essential fatty acids. It restores elasticity, softens wrinkles and fine lines, and restores nutrient content to skin cells treating an array of skin conditions. It also helps brighten skin and reduce blemishes/premature aging effects. (You can also use this on fresh scars to reduce visible appearance, or use on your cuticles to soften them).

Bam! That’s it. It is a little lengthy, but being on bedrest I have all the time on my hands. I wash my face in the AM and PM in the bathroom, then get back in bed to apply my serums, moisturizers, creams, and oil.
